Translation Technology

It’s not new technology, but it’s very advanced. Roughly speaking, it focuses of filing segments (sentences from punctuation mark to punctuation mark) while translating to generate what we call a translation memory.

It’s important to note that the programme doesn’t translate autonomously in any case. There is always a translator validating each segment (sentence) and modifying the translation manually.
That’s why it isn’t called machine translation but computer-assisted translation.

Our extensive experience in the use of this technology has made us specialists, not just in translation memories but also in intelligent terminology databases and collaborative online translation memories that allow several professionals to work on the documents simultaneously.

Computer-assisted translation: translation memories

Neural machine translation

Word Works has been researching and working with different machine translation tools for over ten years, which has enabled us to develop our own neural machine translation engines. Our tools have sufficiently extensive databases and advanced technology to deliver optimal results from the very first document.

Our neural machine translation service is complemented by two other key steps (or even three, if required by customers):

  1. Pre-validation of documentation to check that it’s optimal for processing by neural machine translation.
  1. Human post-editing: the final text is proofread (post-edited) by a linguist that is suitable for that specific combination and speciality in order to deliver a final translation of human quality to customers.
  1. Human proofreading: if required by customers, a further proofreading step by a second linguist with the same experience as the one for the post-editing step is included to ensure that nothing is overlooked.
Word Works was the first Spanish translation company to obtain ISO certification specifically for the use of machine translation technology: ISO score 18587. A quality certification that we renew, along with our commitment to technology, year after year.

Project management

Our online management system connects companies with customers and providers. The encrypted cloud technology allows the processing, delivery, filing and invoicing of all our work to be done immediately, quickly and securely, allowing us to work from anywhere in the world with freedom and complete peace of mind.

Quality control tools

Word Works among many other things, an internal quality control team that uses different tools that enable them to automatically check:

In addition to the automated tools, our quality control system also ensures that the customer's specific instructions for the project have been followed.

Thanks to the application of these technologies, Word Works can guarantee optimal results in a timely manner.
