Why choose our interpreting services?
There are several reasons why you should choose Word Works’ interpreting services:

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of interpreting do you offer?
What languages do your interpreting services cover?
How many interpreters do you provide per event?
How are interpreters selected for each event?
How far in advance do I need to book an interpreter?
What technical equipment is needed for simultaneous interpreting?
Simultaneous interpreting requires specialised technical equipment including:
- Soundproof booths: The booths are designed so interpreters can work in a quiet and distraction-free environment.
- Interpreting consoles: Interpreting consoles are the interface between the interpreter and the audio system. Interpreters use these consoles to listen to the speaker and transmit their interpreting to the audience.
- Audio system: The audio system includes microphones for the speakers and loudspeakers for the audience.
- Headphones and receivers: Headphones enable event participants to listen to the interpreting without interfering with the sound of the speaker.
- Radio frequency transmitters: Radio frequency transmitters send the interpreting signal from the booths to the headsets of participants.
Can you provide interpreting services for online events?
Do you have interpreters that are specialised in specific subjects such as medicine or law?
Can you provide interpreting services for small meetings?
How is the cost of interpreting services calculated?
Interpreting is measured in days. An interpreter’s working day is 7 hours long and interpreting is usually measured in half or full days. In the case of remote interpreting for meetings, it can also be calculated on an hourly basis.
However, the easiest way to have a better idea is to get in touch with us so we can find out more about your specific needs or events. This way, we can recommend the best way to organise it and adjust the cost accordingly.
Do you offer long-term contract discounts?
Do you offer interpreting services on weekends or outside office hours?
What security measures do you have in place to protect confidential customer information?
At Word Works, we take the confidentiality and the security of our customers’ information very seriously. To protect your information, we implement security measures that include:
- Confidentiality contracts: our interpreters and translators sign confidentiality contracts to guarantee the protection of information.
- Use of secure technology: we use secure technology for file transfer and communication with our customers.
- Limited access: we restrict access to information; only to those who need to have it to undertake the interpreting or translation work.
- Secure destruction of information: if required, we delete customer information from our systems once it is no longer needed.
We’re committed to ensuring the confidentiality and security of our customers’ information at all times.
What happens if the selected interpreter isn't available for the event?
What happens if the event extends beyond the agreed time?
While we try to take all possibilities into account, at Word Works, we understand that events can sometimes have unpredictable schedules and may require additional interpreting time.
In the event that the event extends beyond the agreed time, our coordination team works with customers to ensure that the interpreter is available to cover the additional required time or have a back-up interpreter.
We also try to ensure that the interpreter has a flexible schedule and is available to cover the additional required time, as far as possible.
Our coordination team also communicates regularly with the interpreter to ensure that they have enough time to rest and be in tip-top shape throughout the event.
Finally, in the event that additional time is required, we provide additional rates in accordance with the additional time required and this is agreed with the customer in advance.
How can I pay for interpreting services?
As with all other services provided by Word Works, payments for interpreting are made upon presentation of an invoice and according to the payment terms agreed with customers.
In some specific cases where the event is very large or the service requires it for some reason, part of the payment may be requested in advance. However, if you have a specific need, it’s easier if you get in touch with us directly and we can talk. Our payment policy is as transparent as all the services we offer.
