Professional Interpreting Service

Interpreting service is a process of oral communication in which an interpreter conveys a spoken message from one language to another in real time. It’s a highly demanding communicative context for the interpreter, who is responsible for the communication and success of the event: from government and business meetings to medical and academic events.
Our service is undertaken by teams of highly trained and experienced interpreters to ensure the quality and accuracy of their work.

Types of interpreting

There are different types of interpreting to suit the specific needs of each event. The main types of interpreting offered by Word Works are the following:
Simultaneous interpreting: It takes place in real time while the speaker is speaking, and the interpreters use simultaneous interpreting technology to convey the information to the audience in their language. This technique is commonly used at business events, conferences and international meetings.
Chuchotage interpreting: The interpreter simultaneously whispers the translation into the ear of the receiver, enabling a small group of people to understand the information. This technique is common at social events and business meetings.
Consecutive interpreting: The interpreter listens to the speaker and takes notes, and then transmits the message in the target language during the natural pauses in speech. This technique is common in government and legal meetings.
Remote interpreting: This technique is undertaken on an online platform, enabling interpreters to work from anywhere and at any time. This technique is common at online events and international meetings.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Word Works, we offer all types of interpreting available on the market, i.e. simultaneous, consecutive, chuchotage and remote. We also have partners to complete the simultaneous interpreting service with booths and receivers.
We can provide services in practically any required language combination, as we have an extensive database of professional interpreters in many locations. We offer our interpreting services not only in Spain but also in several other countries. Ask us what you need and we’ll be happy to help you.
It depends on the requirements of the event. We’ve taken part in conferences where many booths had to be set up for many language combinations and, in addition, accompanying interpreters had to be included for chuchotage interpreting at specific meetings. Get in touch with us and tell us more about your event; we’re sure we can help.
We select interpreters for each event based on the specific requirements of the customer, such as the source and target language, the speciality of the event and the skills of the interpreter. We also assess the interpreter’s experience and skills before assigning them to an event.
Although we’ve worked on urgent overnight requests for meetings, it’s ideally important to give the interpreter the necessary time to prepare the interpreting properly. The earlier you book, the more time the interpreter has to work on the material related to the event.

Simultaneous interpreting requires specialised technical equipment including:

  • Soundproof booths: The booths are designed so interpreters can work in a quiet and distraction-free environment.
  • Interpreting consoles: Interpreting consoles are the interface between the interpreter and the audio system. Interpreters use these consoles to listen to the speaker and transmit their interpreting to the audience.
  • Audio system: The audio system includes microphones for the speakers and loudspeakers for the audience.
  • Headphones and receivers: Headphones enable event participants to listen to the interpreting without interfering with the sound of the speaker.
  • Radio frequency transmitters: Radio frequency transmitters send the interpreting signal from the booths to the headsets of participants.
Of course! At Word Works, we offer interpreting services for online events through different videoconferencing and webinar platforms. Our interpreters can work from anywhere in the world to provide remote interpreting services in a variety of languages.
At Word Works, we believe in specialisation and therefore, we have specific interpreters for each subject area, including medicine, law, technology, finance, etc. When selecting an interpreter for a specific event, we make sure they have the required knowledge and experience to handle the technical terms and concepts related to that specific topic. This ensures accurate and effective interpreting for event participants.
Of course. We adapt to the needs of our customers and their events. Get in touch with us and tell us more.

Interpreting is measured in days. An interpreter’s working day is 7 hours long and interpreting is usually measured in half or full days. In the case of remote interpreting for meetings, it can also be calculated on an hourly basis.

However, the easiest way to have a better idea is to get in touch with us so we can find out more about your specific needs or events. This way, we can recommend the best way to organise it and adjust the cost accordingly.

At Word Works, our values reflect our constant search for a fair price, adapting as far as possible to the characteristics of each customer and contract. Let us know what you need and we’ll see how we can align with you.
Yes, we can adjust to that as well. In fact, many conferences take place at the weekend and many company meetings are held in different time zones at the same time, requiring interpreters outside office hours in Spain.

At Word Works, we take the confidentiality and the security of our customers’ information very seriously. To protect your information, we implement security measures that include:

  1. Confidentiality contracts: our interpreters and translators sign confidentiality contracts to guarantee the protection of information.
  2. Use of secure technology: we use secure technology for file transfer and communication with our customers.
  3. Limited access: we restrict access to information; only to those who need to have it to undertake the interpreting or translation work.
  4. Secure destruction of information: if required, we delete customer information from our systems once it is no longer needed.

We’re committed to ensuring the confidentiality and security of our customers’ information at all times.

At Word Works, we understand the availability of the interpreter is crucial to the success of the event and do our best to ensure that this doesn’t happen. We also understand that unforeseen events may arise and that interpreters are human beings. If for any reason, the selected interpreter isn’t available for the event, we immediately find and assign another interpreter with the same expertise and experience to ensure that the event runs smoothly and effectively.

While we try to take all possibilities into account, at Word Works, we understand that events can sometimes have unpredictable schedules and may require additional interpreting time.

In the event that the event extends beyond the agreed time, our coordination team works with customers to ensure that the interpreter is available to cover the additional required time or have a back-up interpreter.
We also try to ensure that the interpreter has a flexible schedule and is available to cover the additional required time, as far as possible.

Our coordination team also communicates regularly with the interpreter to ensure that they have enough time to rest and be in tip-top shape throughout the event.
Finally, in the event that additional time is required, we provide additional rates in accordance with the additional time required and this is agreed with the customer in advance.

As with all other services provided by Word Works, payments for interpreting are made upon presentation of an invoice and according to the payment terms agreed with customers.

In some specific cases where the event is very large or the service requires it for some reason, part of the payment may be requested in advance. However, if you have a specific need, it’s easier if you get in touch with us directly and we can talk. Our payment policy is as transparent as all the services we offer.
